We are finally bringing back Workers Whips and I know we have said this before but I promise we will be more regular with these posts this time around! We've been very busy over the past few years since our last post taking on new brands and even taking on new colleagues for us to now share their whips with you!
I am going to start this new batch of Workers Whips with our very own Zakir and his MK2.5 Ford Focus ST 2.5L (ST3). Zakir works here as Sales & Administration and drives his ST daily (Despite the excessive fuel expenses, maybe we pay him too much).
Why the Ford Focus?
I chose the MK2 Ford Focus ST because of the sporty performance, sharp handling and also the distinctive styling. But most importantly, the gorgeous 5-cylinder engine that gives off those heavenly sounds! I have always been familiar with the MK2 Focus too, my dad used to have one which I learnt to drive in, and my previous car was also a MK2 Ford Focus, but the lovely old 99bhp 1.6 engine 😃
What mods have you done to the car so far?
Mods… too much!! I started off with installing a K&N cold air intake kit so I am guaranteed to receive maximum airflow to help the performance of my engine. I have then proceeded to lower the ST with a set of Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs and installed 20/25mm wheel spacers for improved handling and stance. The turbo has had some slight upgrades with a TurboSmart recirc valve and actuator kit. There is no point of having all this power but no brakes to stop the car, so I opted in for the 330mm V-Maxx Big Brake Kit with the lovely red calipers on the front and EBC Ultimax Grooved discs on the rear, both axles paired with the EBC YellowStuff pads. Installed with the brakes were the uprated Goodridge stainless braided brake lines which improved the brake pedal feel significantly! I have also had some cosmetic bits done too such as new ST wing badges, an RS Parts lowline kit with the big 4 fin diffuser and a Maxton Design spoiler lip. Just recently I have just recently purchased a set of 19” Rotiform DTM wheels in Gloss Silver, which have been wrapped in the Yokohama Advan Sport V107 tyres. Luckily some large upgrades were already done when I purchased the car such as a Ford Focus RS clutch and Flywheel, and a full Turbo-back exhaust system, so that saved me some really big bucks! You’ll never catch me driving a stock car 😝
What have you got planned for the car next?
I have quite a few more bits in mind to be honest, an Airtec stage 3 intercooler with Big boost pipes, Airtec or Anembo intake plenum, Airtec Aluminium crossover pipe to join onto the K&N intake, Powerflex poly bushes, an aftermarket front grill set, would also really love a theme of painted engine covers for fun too! I am also considering an RS Turbo in the near future😜 To be honest the list goes on, another day, another thing I want to do to my car haha!
How long have you had a love for cars?
I have loved cars since forever, always had a passion and some sort of love towards them. As a kid I would do everything car related like watch cars all day on YouTube or even look out the window and try name every car that drove past my house, I’d even try mimic car sounds which I would randomly make throughout the day…LOL. I grew up around cars too, I have family who have had some interesting and exotic cars in the past, and even to this day. My dad had a takeaway which had some private land, I used to YouTube how to drive a car and taught myself at 13-14 years old! I’ve never taken a driving lesson and passed first try after I turned 17… impressive, right?!
What is your dream car?
My current dream car is a McLaren P1, they are absolutely spectacular machines. I love everything about it: Hyper Car, the butterfly doors, the menacing sounding 3.8L V8 Hybrid engine, everything!
There's many cars that would be an absolute dream to own like a Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911 GT3, Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari 812 and just so much more, but the P1 is what does it for me 😍
